What it is

What it is, and how it works.

A free tool that finds the firms you compete with in search, lets you pick three, and compares all four on reviews, paid search, search rankings and assistant answers.

You know the names of the firms that win the jobs you quoted for. You rarely know what their customers praise, whether they pay for search ads, or where they rank. The local-services Intel loop puts all three on one page, for you and three rivals.

It starts by finding your competitors for you. We look at who appears for the searches most likely to bring you work in your area, and show you the firms that come up. You choose the three that matter. If the search lookup fails, a fallback proposes a list, and you can still choose.

For you and each of the three, we read the website, gather reviews from review pages found in search and from Reddit, and take the rating and review count from Google's business listing. We add paid-search data (an estimated monthly ad budget band and the paid keywords) and organic search rankings, and put a small number of buyer questions to an assistant to record which firms are named in the answer.

The result places each firm's strengths and weaknesses side by side, each tied to a verbatim quote from a real review, next to the channel figures and a positioning view of where each firm sits. Measured figures and estimates carry different labels.

Who it is for

  • Trades, clinics, solicitors, accountants and other local service firms
  • Owners who lose work to the same few names and want to know why
  • Anyone deciding whether to spend on reviews, search ads or their site
What it does

What it reads, and what you see.

Competitors found for you

We look at who appears for the searches that bring you work, and you pick three.

Strengths and weaknesses, quoted

What customers say about each firm, grouped and tied to verbatim review quotes.

How each firm is found

Reviews and ratings, paid-search estimates, search rankings and assistant answers, per firm.

By hand, or with it

The same job, two ways.

By hand

  • Read every rival's reviews by hand
  • Guess whether they are paying for search ads
  • Search your own trade and town and hope it is representative
  • No single view of who is ahead

With Intel loops for local services

  • Competitors found from real search results
  • Review themes for all four, quoted
  • Paid and organic search figures, labelled measured or estimated
  • One page, side by side

The channel where you are furthest behind.

How it works

Three steps.

  1. Enter your site and area

We find the firms that appear for searches in your trade and area.

  2. Pick three competitors

Choose the three you actually compete with, and enter your email.

  3. Read the comparison

Reviews, search and positioning for all four, side by side.

Limits

What it does not do.

  • It reads each firm's homepage, not every page.
  • Paid-search figures are third-party estimates, shown as a wide band, not anyone's actual spend.
  • Assistant answers vary from one ask to the next; the result records what was said on this run, not a fixed ranking.
  • Reviews come from pages found in search, Reddit and Google's listing; review sites that block reading are left out.
  • Runs are limited per address and per email to keep the tool free.

FAQ

Intel loops for local services: questions

How is this different from the online-store Intel loop?

This version is for local service firms: it finds competitors from search and compares reviews and how each firm is found. The e-commerce version compares online stores on eight shop categories and is checked by a specialist.

Can I choose competitors it did not find?

You choose from the firms it finds. If none fit, the free Insight Report and the research desk are other routes.

Are the ad budgets accurate?

They are third-party estimates and labelled as such, shown as a band rather than a single figure. Treat them as a sense of scale, not a fact.

Why do you need my email?
