What it is

What it is, and how it works.

Commissioned research from the research desk: a whole vertical, a buyer audience or your own question, scoped from a brief and delivered with every figure traced to its source.

Some questions are bigger than one firm's website: who is winning buyer confidence across a whole vertical and why, who actually buys from you and how they choose, what it would take to enter a market. The research desk takes those.

There are three kinds of study. A Vertical Market Study runs the full method across a whole vertical: up to twenty-five named firms read and compared, the vertical's demand, review climate and assistant answers mapped, and a synthesis of who is winning and why. An Audience Study researches a buyer population: who they are, how they choose and what they look for, with buyer types calibrated to that audience. A Commissioned Custom Study takes your own research question, scoped from a written brief.

Every study follows one rule: every figure is traced to its source, and each finding is labelled measured, observed or inferred, with what the evidence can and cannot support set side by side. Published examples sit in the research library. Read them before you commission anything.

Commissioning starts with a short form: your question, the population it is about, the decision it informs and your timing. That form only records the question. There is no automatic price or method; a person reads it, and we scope the study with you in conversation before quoting.

Who it is for

  • Firms entering or repositioning in a vertical
  • Marketing and strategy teams who need sourced evidence, not opinion
  • Groups, franchises and agencies wanting one method across many businesses
What it does

What it reads, and what you see.

Vertical Market Study

A whole vertical read and compared, with a synthesis of who is winning buyer confidence.

Audience Study

A buyer population researched, with buyer types calibrated to it.

Custom Study

Your question, our method, scoped from a written brief.

Analytics Augmentation

Your own analytics, search-console and CRM data wired into the read, with public findings kept labelled.

By hand, or with it

The same job, two ways.

By hand

  • Commission an agency and get opinion formatted as data
  • Not know which figures are measured and which assumed
  • Pay before the question is properly scoped
  • No way to check the sources

With Research studies

  • A question scoped with you before any quote
  • Every figure traced to its source
  • Findings labelled measured, observed or inferred
  • Published examples to judge first
What you walk away with

What you keep.

A sourced study

A report where every figure can be followed to where it came from.

Clear evidence labels

What was measured, what was observed, what was inferred.

A walkthrough

Custom studies are delivered with a walkthrough.

An answer to your question

Scoped to the decision it is meant to inform.

How it works

Three steps.

  1. Send your question

A short form: the question, the population, the decision and timing.

  2. Scope it together

We discuss the method and quote the study.

  3. Receive the study

Every figure sourced, findings labelled, with a walkthrough.

Limits

What it does not do.

  • It is sales-led. There is no checkout, and the commission form only records your question.
  • Prices are floors; the actual quote depends on scope.
  • Studies listed as in design in the research library are concepts, not finished work.
  • Public-data studies cannot see private figures unless you add Analytics Augmentation.
Price

Studies from from £2,950, quoted after scoping.

Vertical Market Study from £2,950, Audience Study from £3,450, Commissioned Custom Study from £4,950, Analytics Augmentation from £1,450. All are floors; the quote follows the scoping conversation.

FAQ

Research studies: questions

How do I start?

Send your question through the commission form. A person reads it and gets back to you to scope it; nothing is charged at that point.

What does 'from' mean on the price?

It is the floor for that kind of study. The quote depends on the scope we agree.

Can I see examples first?

Yes. The research library publishes studies and long reads produced the same way.

Do you use my private data?

Only if you choose Analytics Augmentation, in which case your data is wired in and public-data findings stay labelled as such.

Is there a fixed turnaround?

We agree timing when we scope the study, rather than promising one in advance.

Run it on your own business.

Offered and sales-led. You send a question; we scope and quote it in conversation.
