The UK's configurator-driven glazing market, mapped end to end — national installers, online window and door configurators, and sealed-unit sellers. The finding: the players who own the demand can't sell online, and the players who can sell online don't own the demand. Nobody owns the middle.
← See Edition 01: the cut-to-size verticalThe structural fault
Two camps of almost equal traffic, built on opposite models. One owns the brand and the demand and refuses to show a price. The other can take your order in five minutes and almost nobody can find it.
Owns the demand
Anglian + Everest + Safestyle. One PE-backed operator, reportedly up for sale ~£100M. Every visit routes to a salesman.
Owns the buying experience
Eight configurator-native sellers, mostly organic. They can take the order online — but own a fraction of the demand and almost no brand.
Who owns the traffic
Every consumer-facing player, sized by monthly traffic, clustered by segment. Solid orbs sell online; faded orbs are lead-gen. The three orange giants — Anglian, Everest, Safestyle — are one company, and not one of them takes a payment online.
The keyword universe
~440k monthly searches split across Windows, Doors and Double-glazing. The money is in the overlaps — and the overlaps are owned by whoever can pay £14 a click or rank a comparison page, not by whoever can actually sell you the product.
Territory volumes are directional estimates (±30–50%, no live Ahrefs). Overlap labels name the player-type that owns that intent today.
The league
The same data as the map, as a table. Watch the Model column: every player above ~50k visits is "lead-gen" or "quote only". Every player that lets you buy online sits below it.

What the map hides
Phantom competition
Anglian owns Everest (bought May 2024) and Safestyle (bought for £2M, Nov 2023). The ~157k visits across three "rival" brands route to one PE-backed operator — reportedly up for sale at ~£100M. The demand side of this market is already consolidated and financially fragile.
The toll-keepers
GreenMatch (100% organic) and The Eco Experts own the "double glazing cost / quotes" SERPs and sell the leads on. The vertical has outsourced its most valuable informational layer to energy-comparison aggregators that don't fit a single window.
Two markets, one word
The single biggest 'door' traffic in the UK isn't in this vertical at all — it's catalogue internal-door retail (Leader Online alone ~173k/mo, more than Anglian). Different buyer, no configurator, no glazing. A reminder that 'doors' is two markets wearing one word.
The verdict
No UK player owns all four of: high-volume organic content, an instant online price, an in-home survey booking, and a national fitting network. The brands with the demand won't show a price; the sites that show a price can't fit the job. Whoever assembles all four steps between 440k monthly searches and the £500k/month the installers currently burn on ads.
It closes the day three businesses in it become clients — and then we build it for whoever they compete with next. The first three to see their own position on this map act on it before their rivals know it exists. The fourth enquiry hears the seats are gone.

21 consumer-facing businesses assessed on one metric set: SimilarWeb monthly traffic (±20–35%), organic/paid split, transaction model (buy-online → lead-gen), Trustpilot, and Companies House / trade-press ownership. Keyword-territory volumes are a synthesised estimate (±30–50%, no live Ahrefs) — directional, not precise. Catalogue internal-door retailers (Leader Online, Todd Doors) are deliberately held out of the core map: full checkout but SKU-catalogue, not configurator, and joinery not glazing.
